I’ve decided to make the blog public again.  I feel like I owe it to the loyal readers, followers, and to truth in general.

I read a bullshit article about my alma mater (Morehouse) the other day on the web.  Through all the comments, opinions, dialogue, bullshit, flawed logic, etc. a lot of people missed the overwhelming and obvious: money and notoriety.  I read a tweet where one of her friends alluded that her ‘value’ had increased with the controversy she was able to stir with her article.  An article on a story damn near 2 years old.  An article that will probably affect Morehouse enrollment (hetero-normative enrollment), gifts & donations (alumni, donors, etc.), and push the institution further toward the annals of obscurity and further away from the traditions and heritage that delivered the likes of Dr. King.

I’m not going to debate the article with you. There were and are enough blogs on the internet with comment sections filled to the brim of decent arguments for both sides; Of course, these arguments overlook a lot of things, notably, how Black Men are attacked and assassinated–literally and figuratively, and how the only all-male HBCU targeted seems to be brought into the fray every year. Coincidence? I know better…

I thought someone would articulate how since Black People have come to this country, Black Men have been called anything but a man. You only need to speak with an older Black Man/Woman to be reminded that just 40-50 years ago (1 generation), Black Men with jobs, families, business, etc. were still being referred to as ‘boy’. This was not as disrespectful as ‘nigger’ or ‘shine’ or any other epithets that scorn and scorch the soul. It was worse.

Calling a man a boy is to demean and devalue on all levels; whereas an epithet is a racially derived insult that can be applied to anyone, including those who are not even apart of the race. To call him a boy is to take away or ignore the essence of him on all levels–biologically (by inferring he does not have enough testosterone), physiologically (by inferring he is insufficiently lacking physically), mentally (by inferring he is not fully competent), and emotionally (by inferring he is immature).  We no longer have to worry about only White guys doing this, because there are Black Women parading as journalists and bloggers who are assisting as well. All for the money. Sigh.

I get it. It rule everything around you. Like I used to tell niggas in neighborhoods playing basketball by throwing elbows and clothes lines, “Just tell me how we’re playing, so I will know”. Then I proceeded to clothesline, trip, elbow, chop, knee, and kick my way to the basket until it was time to fight or leave.  I understand now.

In the same vein as those defending that journalist/author…I’ve got stories to tell also (smile).

I’ve been reading blogs and tracking these people harassing me, the last few months to know one thing: I’m a dope writer (laughs), whether you like what I write or not. I should put my government out there and just start submitting stuff to magazines and periodicals. Nah, not enough dough though (but..maybe…). What fucks me up, it this would be the same type of woman who argues with you about respecting her hair, yet, she wants to tell other people & institutions how to govern. The same type of woman who will tell you she loves Wu-Tang, but shuns the niggas at the bodega sipping Nemos telling her how fat her ass is—not realizing that the Wu were and are the same type of niggas…just with money! (laughs hysterically) These squares be killing me. The same type of woman who will write an article about how she controls her sexuality will pass judgment on rap groupies. Squares: observe them from the corners that define them, that will tell you enough.

So, without future delay, I’m going to allow everyone to see how dope I am. All the time.  Feel free to link me, forward, etc. Shit, I might even start a facebook group and twitter (laughs). But this fake, hypocritical bullshit needs balance.

Not sure if this will be permanent or not, but it will be this way for now. I thank everyone who submitted emails–if I do post something private, you all will be privy. I apologize, I have just been crazy busy–professionally and personally. I have to tame one of my lives before I can continue with this one.

The title is a nod to Jay-Z’s last line on takeover. That line is for the people harassing me. No threats, I know who you are. Tis’ enough…for me at least (wink).

Shoutout to my faithful: new and old.

Long live the real.

Death to the fake.

Bond. BlkBond.

PS–Special shoutout to Ozwald Boateng (read the stat counter). Your clothes are dope. I hope to be fitted very soon, as I am a fan.

thank you for making the blog public again. I enjoy everything you write. As a Spelman Alumna, I feel a strong connection to Morehouse. I thought the article was one of the most reckless things ive seen in a long time.

  2. Thank you CNN. I appreciate that, truly. I realize that my truth is harsh for alot of people, notably people I respect (Black Women, Black Nationalists, etc.) so, I do give a lot of pause when I write my blog, moreover, how I respond to the blogs of others. I am not a one dimensional person–where I am only ‘good’ (volunteering, donating money toward Black causes and events to uplift Black people, etc.) or solely ‘bad’ (sleeping with multiple women, affiliated, etc.), but rather, just me. All my perfect imperfections.

I know that alot of the backlash was from people who don’t understand and can’t comprehend, but when I felt that my livelihood was threatened, I had to evaluate how I would proceed and how I would deal with these people. I’m not the type of guy to go on their blog and write crazy comments, join twitter to blast them, etc. I’ll just do what guys like me do (take that how you want). I’m a ‘give a wink with a sly smile and see you later’ type guy.

In any regard, I’m gonna go hard like I got a Viagra Pentium processor in this Mac Pro.

The article: Bad Journalism and poor taste. Bad part is my apathy is so advanced that I wouldn’t expect less from a lot of these people. They will condemn and exploit within the same breathe. They don’t realize that they emulate the same society they are so hellbent of changing. Disgusting…

    Bond.

  3. Thank you!

Particularly for this: “An article that will probably affect Morehouse enrollment (hetero-normative enrollment), gifts & donations (alumni, donors, etc.), and push the institution further toward the annals of obscurity and further away from the traditions and heritage that delivered the likes of Dr. King.” As a student on Hampton University’s campus this is a pretty big story here and until now I could only say that it was a bad look for HBCU’s especially Morehouse but I wasn’t able to elaborate on that “feeling” and you have hit the nail on the head exactly.

Hey HIU! “I Love my Home By the Sea” C/O ’07….

On another note, I just started reading this blog. I must admit at first I was taken aback by the brashness, bluntness and overall boldness in the first post that I read (Translations). But it was so trill that you, Bond, my dear have roped me in. I stumbled across you over at VSB in the comment section (as i am an infrequent commenter, and more frequent lurker over there) and thought that you had some poignant things to say. So i checked you out…… and an umpteenth post later here we are!

So all that said, I will be returning, stay up and dont let life, personal/business or the business of haters get you down!

  4. Dayum. I’m kinda feeling the same way with people publicly aligning themselves with folks just to get hits. But the very folks who drive their hits up are people whose lifestyles (real life) and words (on blogs going back at least 5 years) don’t match theirs (the hit seekers). I wrote about this yesterday.

As for the Morehouse thing, I think this is going the way of the DL men. Just cus a couple of Black men get on the Oprah and say they sleep with men but pretend not to, Black men across America became guilty until proven innocent. Now, Morehouse is on it’s way to having all of the greatness ignored in exchange for being labeled homophobic OR a place where gay men flock.

  5. This is the first post I read where someone shares my sentiments about that article. Sensationalism at its best, junk journalism at its worst, and no different from something you might see on Fox news or read from a conservative anti-Obama Tea partier. smh… And what’s sad is that people are eating it up, especially some of my Spelman sisters.

Welcome back, Bond. I need to add yo to my reader…

  6. 7 *OnlyYolie*

I’m glad you are back.. I was referred to your blog by a friend and imagine my disappointment when I went there and it was (kind of) gone?!?! I look forward to seeing what you have in store for the masses…

As for the “mean girls” thing… it just seemed like media whoring to me…
    Full. Stop.

The same type of woman who will tell you she loves Wu-Tang, but shuns the niggas at the bodega sipping Nemos telling her how fat her ass is—not realizing that the Wu were and are the same type of niggas…just with money! <<<

I came to this realization the other day, cognitive dissonance is a bitch!

To the entry overall: The society is constantly putting the black man down and yes black women are eating up. Especially in blog land and forums. If I see one more post about how black men ain't shit, get with a white man, I'm moving back to Jamaica. Do those same black women realize that white men aren't checking for them anyways? Have they looked at the statistics of inter-racial marriages? Black women are the least desired women across the racial borders and yet, they are the same ones that want to drop the black man as soon as the majority culture says so, all because they made poor choices or her mama made poor choices. Black women today are the white man's pawn to subjugate the black man.

Disclaimer: I do not hate white people and am not against inter-racial marriage; love is love.

Sidenote: I've always wondered how African-Americans would fare in a society where they were the majority?

    • @ Purp: Black people would arguably not fare any much better. There would still be malcontent and dissent, mostly because of our conditioning. You only need to look at the many African nations (Nigeria, So. Africa, etc.) or Caribbean countries to see that.

There will still be bigotry and discrimination in the form of religion, skin pigmentation, hair texture, tribalism, etc. We got a lot of work to do.

      Bond.

Welp. You may hate me for it but I am so over how sensitive SpelHouse alum gets over various publications. I went to CAU… b-school. Really, as much as my institution gets thrown under the bus? I’ve met some mediocre people from all three institutions but nothing is worse that riding off of a name when you’re an idiot. However I digress. I complete empathize and actually agree with your point about Morehouse and the affect of articles like that.

Lastly, let this be the last 5 minutes of fame for the bitter ones, please. Afterall, they’re the ones forwarding your blog link to the rest of their bitter ass friends so they can have a bitter ass conversation over lunch about it and then probably bring it home and bitterly bitch about it to their fucking CAT. (Yes, i have a puppy but bitter bitches are usually cat lovers. *shrugs*)

And that is all. Happy you’re back mi love. Let’s get it. =)

    • Glad you’re back too love ;)

Alum are sensitive because there seems to be a constant effort to attack. Like, we NEVER hear of any other scandals or bad behavior related to other HBCU’s only ours.

Yeah, they are forwarding my joint though (laughs). Think they’ve gotten better about commenting after I changed formats and after Bond 2.0. They still view though.

I’m gonna co-sign the cat observation also–this is usually what I see. Thus, why ‘cat lady’ is synonymous with bitter and single.

On another note: you ready =) ?

      Bond. BlkBond.

      • 12 mimi

        Very Ready.
        Ps. This weekend, eh? *wink*

Also… I’m about to get mushy in my space. It’s long overdue. I’ve been ranting. Before someone thinks I’m bitter and thinking of getting a cat, I guess I should post. lolol

  9. 13 Mimi

    completely*

    • Yeah, I’m ready for the weekend as well…I just hope the weather holds up.

I don’t really like being out and about in rain & cold. I was going to creep low and do some recon for a post I wanted to write, but, I will kick it…for you (smile).

Just hit me on the email to let me know what the plan is…

      Bond.
